Junior, a program developed by Amir Ban and Shay Bushinsky of Israel, had
already won the title in 1997, 2001 and 2002. In 2003 it was Shredder who won
the title. Now, just seven months later, Junior has won back the title.
The other favourite in the field, Fritz, did not have a good tournament. In
round three it lost a very promising position against Falcon on time, when
the computer froze and the operator did not notice this soon enough. And then
in round 12 it lost quite regularly to the Dutch program Diep, which overtook
Fritz in the final standings.
