The Israelis, who had been dominating the men's section for much of the European Team Championship, took the last round with 3:1 against the Czech Republic. The Dutch team needed to win to take first place, and win they did.

The final score: 15/18 match points, with 22/36 board points. Israel had 14/18 and 23.5/36 respectively. Third were the French, who scored 13/18 with 21.5/36 board points, exactly the same as the Greek team. But the French had a better Buchholz, 184.0 vs 166.5 for the Greeks.

Bronze for the French, with Iossif Dorfman, Christian Bauer, Laurent Fressinet, Etienne Bacrot and Joël Lautier. On the right team captain Mikhail Gurevich.

In the women's section the contenders Poland and Georgia both drew their matches (to Armenia and Greece respectively) and ended up at the top of the table.
