The main office of the new Global Chess arm of FIDE will be in the Max Euwe Center in Amsterdam (Max Euweplein 30a 1, 1017 MB Amsterdam). A contract to this effect was signed on Wednesday. Global Chess BV, which is run by Dutch businessman Bessel Kok, will be responsible for running high-profile FIDE events, like the world championship for men and women – but not yet those for which other contractual agreements exist, like the world championship in Mexico City in September this year.
The Dutch web site Chess Vibes has interviewed the relevant office-holders of Global Chess and provided video links in which Bessel Kok and Geoffery Borg discuss the plans and operational details of the new chess enterprise.
