Kirsan Ilyumzhinov
President
World Chess Federation
Dear Kirsan:
I am pleased to extend to you my full support in the coming FIDE elections
in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.
I thank you for the close cooperation we have shared these last four years,
working together for the progress of our sport in Asia and around the world.
Together we have strengthened FIDE in Asia, activating federations and adding
new member nations.
Asian players are at the vanguard of the World Championship cycle which is
now undisputed in FIDE. Asians shine as well in the World Youth Championships
which have grown in popularity. With the International Olympic Committee recognition
of chess as sport, we have included chess in the Asian Games, Asian Indoor Games
and Southeast Asian Games. There are more tournaments today in the Asian and
World chess calendars.
We look forward to continuing our work together.
Thank you so much.
Very truly yours,
