Turkish Chess Championship took place in Kemer, Antalya, from February 4 to 14, in a ten-round Swiss system. This year the Turkish Chess Federation introduced an impressive prize fund of 30.000 TL (approximately 15.000 euro). There were 257 participants including 17 titled players together with 3 GMs, 4 IMs and 2 WIMs. The top seeds are GM Baris Esen, GM Emre Can, and other players of the Turkish national team.
After ten rounds GM Emre Can became new Turkish Champion with 8.5/10, half a point ahead of a group of five with 8.0/10, including GM Baris Esen, IM Mustafa Yilmaz, Topak Engin, IM Mert Erdogdu, and FM Cemil Can Ali Marandi.
