Game of the Week #680

Jorden van Foreest truly dominated the Dutch Championship, making chess look rather simple. In reality, he has been working hard on his chess recently, and his efforts are paying off.

Last week, we witnessed his positional masterpiece against Tiviakov, and this week, we will analyse his attacking victory in the final against Van Wely. Although it was a fairly one-sided affair, we will try to clarify the theoretical background.

This is Jorden's second Dutch title, and he has also returned to 2700.

Warm-up question: What would you play here with White?

This week's show

In this opening Black opts for active piece play and is not afraid to fight for the initiative from an early stage. One of the many good features of this opening is that Black is often the side which controls the pace of the game.
